The 3rd meeting of the NPDRR with the theme ‘Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction’ stands postponed and may held in the month of October, 2020. About 1000 participants from the Central Ministries, State Governments and Union Territory Administrations, Heads of Institutions of national importance in the field of disaster management, representatives of Local Self Governments, Central Universities, Civil Society Organizations, Heads of financial institutions, Public Sector Undertakings, representatives of media, industries and professional experts are likely to participate in this event.
The meeting will have an inaugural and a closing ceremony, one ministerial session, one plenary session, and six technical sessions, besides some parallel sessions and other events viz. exhibitions, competitions etc. The 3rd meeting of NPDRR will provide an opportunity for mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction in Developmental plan and coherence between all global frameworks on Disaster Risk Reduction viz. Sustainable Development Goals, Sendai Framework and Paris Agreement (Conference of Parties-21). It will also provide a platform to discuss strategy and plan of actions of States and other stakeholders in view of Prime Minister’s 10-point Agenda on Disaster Risk Management.

The second meeting of NPDRR was held on 15th and 16th May, 2017, in New Delhi, on the theme 'Disaster Risk Reduction for Sustainable Development: Making India Resilient by 2030'. The event was inaugurated by Hon’ble Union Home Minister. It had five technical sessions on the themes of "Understanding Disaster Risk", "Strengthening Disaster Risk Governance to Manage Disaster Risk", "Investing in Disaster Risk Reduction for resilience", “Enhancing Disaster Preparedness for Effective Response and to Build Back Better in Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction" and "Sendai Framework for DRR: Monitoring."
The first meeting of NPDRR was held on 13th and 14th May 2013, in New Delhi on the theme ‘Mainstreaming DRR in Development: From Risk to Resilience’. The meeting was inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Prime Minister. It had 2 plenary and 6 thematic sessions, on "Harnessing Technology for DRR", "Making our Cities Safe", "Risk Financing Mechanisms", "Long Term Recovery and Rehabilitation", "Public Policy and Governance" and "Multi- Stakeholder Consultation."
